It's up to you!

It all comes down to this: Either it really happened or it didn't.

And it did. The proof is more than sufficient. So the real question is...

Do you believe it?

"He is risen." The Jesus of the Bible, the Jesus of historical record, the Jesus billions of people refer to as their Savior... that same Jesus died and rose again on the third day.

He is alive!

Either you say it is true, or you say it is not. To say you don't know is like saying you don't know if Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. You may not know the details or have seen the proof yourself, but for some reason you have a hard time denying it. Or maybe he didn't actually go to the moon. Maybe it was all staged in Hollywood, and you've been sold a lie all of these years.

Of course you will not say that unless you are stupid (excuse my French). The evidence is clear and overwhelming. You didn't see Neil Armstrong do it, but there are a lot of people who testify to seeing him board Apollo 11 with Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, which then blasted off into outer space. The rest you will have to believe because NASA says so and the evidence looks real. They can prove it, but you still have to believe it. You didn't see it yourself.

If you say, "But the resurrection story happened a couple of thousand years ago and there is not enough evidence that Jesus rose from the dead." Then you also must say that there is not enough evidence to prove that Christopher Columbus crossed the ocean and discovered America. You see there is just as much historical evidence, if not more, that the one happened as much as the other. There are over five thousand documents that affirm the truth of Christ's life, death, and resurrection. Like any other historical "fact" - the proof is there.

If it is true (and it is), then you have a critical decision to make. See, this thing we call Christianity lives and dies on this one question: Did Jesus rise from the dead and is He alive today?  Everything else hinges on that one fact. If He did not rise from the dead, then all of us who believe are fools. Jesus was either a liar or a lunatic, and so were the thousands who knew him, the hundreds who were close to Him and saw Him in His risen state, and the many who wrote about it. I know this raises a lot of questions, but let's keep this simple for a moment, because it is just that simple.

Either He did or He didn't. Either He is or He isn't.

It's up to you whether you believe it or not.

If you say you don’t believe, are you being honest that you have fully investigated the evidence?  Have you been open-minded enough to read a book or two from scholars who give you the information you need? Google the names Lee Strobel or Josh McDowell. Those guys leave no stone unturned (pun intended). Then there is the Bible, which is one of the most - if not the most - comprehensive historical document of all time.

Here is the reality... If it is true, then everything He said is true. Everything we know about Him is true. Everything He did for us is real.  If it is not true, then nothing about any of it is true.  It is all a lie.

But if Jesus rose from the dead and lives today, you can have the life that He has created for you.  Your sins are forgiven. Your guilt is gone. You are loved by the Father, who is our God. He loved you enough to give His Son to die for you. This death on the cross paid the price for your sin and mine - a sin condition that should send you and me to an eternal hell. Jesus came to ultimately clear the way for a close, intimate, personal relationship with God, whose love for you and me never wavers and never changes.

The truth is that just reading a book about it will not necessarily convince you. The truth is that there is a battle going on for your heart. The key to understanding (or at least experiencing) this truth for yourself requires faith. God has given you this capacity to believe by faith. But you will have to use what you have been given.

It's that simple. Believe and you will receive the presence of Christ and eternal life. Believe and you will receive God's love that never changes. Believe and you will begin the adventure of all adventures. You can discover your original purpose. You can know God personally. You will discover a power that you did not know existed. You will find freedom in your heart to live without fear. You will discover the blessing of life from the inside out. You will find strength to live, and to die when the time comes. You will discover a peace that cannot be understood.

Jesus is real. The resurrection happened. Love has been demonstrated. Life has been given.

But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  (Romans 10:8-9)

It's that simple. Will you believe?

It's up to you!
